who's to say

who's to say

Who's to say

how old is old,

but ourselves who know

when our time has come.

My mother said at thirty

she felt fifty,

but at sixty, ten.

Who's to say

when the going is gone,

or how old you have to grow

to feel young.

The photo above is of my mom in a hula skirt, as a young girl, and years later in her forties, at a party. She made the black bathing suit, earrings, and ankle bracelet that is part of the costume. I thought it was cool that I had access to these two photos of her in a hula skirt some thirty years apart. I spliced the two together in Photoshop and placed one of the daisies from her bracelet in her hand. It is interesting that each picture is almost a mirror image of the other. I often wonder what the grown woman would tell the younger girl if she had the chance.

What would you tell your younger self if you could go back in time and meet with her!?
