see the Beauty in you
Maybe you are beautiful and the make-up doesn't make it so. It can't make up for lost time, past hurts, or pain that have etched paths across your face. You can try and build a perfect illusion, paint colors on and create a flawless self-reflection, but maybe you are beautiful more for what you have loved. For the trees beneath the sky of your fair blue-and-white complexion, the leaves and roots under your skin, the lakes you skate on in your dreams, and all that you have seen that is now dust, fossil, or spirit — for these connections. No need to cover up the scars left behind, or what seems to be imperfection; even the root wire and bone-socket incision have become something new. (There was alchemy at play, yes!?) So, why question? You remain with bones strong as rock and wood, feet steady like earth and root, open hands receiving like ponds soaking up rain. Yes, maybe you are beautiful — for all that has left you has left you with more of yourself, soaring beneath the sun over grass and beyond.
How do you define beauty? Do you feel beautiful? How do you connect to your own beauty?
